Dear patient,
On the following pages you can find information on co.don® AG’s products for the treatment of articular cartilage defects.

The therapy is carried out by means of the autologous chondrocyte transplantation (ACT). 

The chondrocyte transplantation includes removal of the cartilage tissue within an arthroscopic surgery. Chondrocytes are isolated from this tissue sample and cultivated under sterile conditions in the highly specialized cell culture laboratories of co.don® AG.

In case of the autologous matrix induced three-dimensional chondrocyte transplantation (ACT 3D), three-dimensional spheroids are placed over the prepared defect without any covering. This intervention is carried out mostly arthroscopically. This method enormously simplifies the handling and significantly shortens the operation time.

In Germany, the product of the autologous three-dimensional chondrocyte transplantation (ACT 3D) is also distributed by the marketing and sales company Ormed GmbH under the name ARTROcell 3D®.
