Joint pain signals a joint dysfunction and can occur in all joints but most frequently in the knee and the hip.
In 50 percent of the people at the average age of 50 a increased joint wear is shown during radiology examination. At the age of 70 nearly 100 percent of men were affected.
Beside old age caused abrasion also overweight, strong physical stress, injuries as well as a genetic disposition can release or inforce joint pain.
Not every cartilage damage is accompained by pain. Please ask your surgeon in case of (also non-painful) restricted joint movement, joint turgor or other noticable joint changes.
A unrealised and untreated cartilage injury can led to extensive joint scuffing and osteoarthritis.
