- News overview
When a "slipped disc" requires surgery the main aim is to remove defective tissue, rather than to restore the disc to its original condition. Further pain is followed by further operations. Neighbouring regions of the spinal column are often damaged as well.
The autologous disc chondrocyte transplantation (ADCT) procedure developed by co.don AG compensates for tissue lost due to a herniated vertebral disc and the subsequent surgery. The disc functions again – without introducing foreign or artificial materials into the body. Further degeneration can often be prevented.
ADCT is suitable for lumbar and cervical vertebrae.
We have been supporting autologous disc chondrocyte transplantations since 1996. In the pilot study for controlled clinical application, follow-up examinations of our patients over an observation period of more than five years show very good results.
